The Selfish Hero – One Story Two Tellers

The below is a work of fiction based on a true story. Mylo’s version is based on Mylo’s experience, and Saskia’s version is based on what Mylo thinks Saskia’s version could be.

Characters:

Mylo
Saskia
The Man —a man helping Saskia

Saskia’s Version:

  1. Saskia was trying to turn on her car, but the car battery was dead.
  2. Saskia had a man, and a cable later. They were now waiting for a car which was on its way.
  3. Mylo —the owner of the car parking next to Saskia— is now leaving; so when the car Saskia is waiting for comes there will be no problem in connecting the two batteries with the cable.
  4. Mylo accepted to connect his car battery to Saskia’s car battery.
  5. Saskia went into her car, and The Man —helping Saskia— asked Mylo to get his car closer. Then, it was not enough as the cable was too short.
  6. Mylo moved his car again (rotation about 135 degrees clockwise).
  7. The cable connects the two batteries, and Saskia tried turning on the car, and it is on.
  8. While Mylo was leaving (rotating his car again); Saskia for the first time talked to Mylo thanking him.
  9. Then, Saskia asked for Mylo’s name, and thanked him again with his name.
  10. The End.

Mylo’s Version:

Mylo was walking to the place, and on his way he was going to put something in his car but he decided to delay it; as he noticed another car parking next to his was trying to start but it couldn’t. So, he assumed it is a dead battery which needs to be changed/recharged for the car to be able to be switched on. He went to the place for about 25 minutes, and on his way back he found the car still still but now with people standing beside it. Mylo ate something in about 10 minutes then he headed back to his car to leave. When Mylo opened the car rear, someone (Saskia or The Man) said finally this car owner is here. So, Mylo was delaying himself waiting for them to ask him if he can help in anyway; but what Mylo had in mind was just to open his car front cover, and let them use a cable to connect the car batteries together to turn Saskia’s car back on. They asked for what Mylo exactly had in mind; so Mylo immediately said it was okay. Then, Mylo moved his car in a position which seemed later not good enough; as the cable was too short. So, Mylo changed the car position again in a way that was good enough to The Man to connect the cable to the batteries, and the other car was turned on. The other car owner Saskia kept thanking Mylo, and even asked for his name. Then thanked Mylo again in his name.

Saskia made Mylo feel like a kind person, like a hero, and he saw himself nowhere close.
